Review of Die Hard 2 (1990) by Mackenzie H — 20 Jun 2013
Pretty much a rehash of the first film, but more dumb. The action is bigger, the setting is different, but even McClane knows that it's a bad case of deja vu. What makes this film win is Bruce Willis ever as snarky and badass as ever.
The action is also entertaining. The villain isn't quite Hans Gruber level, but he is military based so he is cold and calculated which does make for a worthy villain. The faults fall under some subpar side characters that aim to annoy or assault our ears with profanity.
The plot involving the action seems to go around in circles with no sense of direction or grace. He simply ventures out, gets into trouble, goes back to the airport, wash rinse repeat. Overall its a fun actioner to a point with McClane owning the show, but this sequel is pretty dumb and teeters on boring with its repetitive albeit explosive action.
Goes almost neck and neck with Die Hard 5 as the least of the series.
