Review of Die Another Day (2002) by Shawn E — 05 Jul 2010
I actually think Brosnan was fine as 007, but it's too bad that he couldn't leave the series on a better note. This is the worst Bond movie of the Brosnan era and one of the weakest overall. The James Bond movies are entitled to some silliness.
The use of gadgetry is one trademark of the James Bond films that I wish the Daniel Craig movies would use in moderation, but in "Die Another Day" the gadgets are a too overblown, as are the action sequences.
It would have been fine if this were just a weak Bond movie, but the fact that everyone noticed that gadgets took over too much unfortunately gave MGM the license to transform James Bond into Jason Bourne in 2006's "Casino Royale.
