Review of Die Another Day (2002) by Corey W — 16 Aug 2013
An over-CGI'd redux of the awful GoldenEye, this time with DPRK instead of Russia to capitalise on the Axis of Evil speech and anxiety about their nuclear program. It seems like the producers were intent on making best Bond ever through lifting classic scenes from earlier movies (i.
E. the bikini scene) and overdosing it with gadgets and CGI instead of developing consistent characters or interesting story. Some of it did work (the battle between two superpowered cars was a nice idea, and the Bond torture scenes were also pretty cool), but most fell flat (invisible car, surfing on a CGI'd tidal wave, the ridiculous ice palace, etc.
, etc.). All in all, it's weak and uninteresting, and it's hard not to fall asleep on the second viewing.
