Review of Die Another Day (2002) by Rosie T — 05 Jul 2010
A movie that takes a bit of a gamble by stepping away a bit from the Bond cookie cutter movie. The fact that the indestructable had been captured for a length of time is a definite change of pace. That fact, however, is not the true downfall of this film.
This movie had two main problems: the aging of the forever youthful star and the movie now trying to better the previous films in effects and local and all of that. The last few Moore bond films purposely took a step from this after Moonraker so they did not fall into that trap.
This movie needed to do the same. The strength of the characters should be enough, not the addition and complexities of explosions and all of that. A fairly fun action flick, but not a strong Bond film.
