Review of Die Another Day (2002) by Corey M — 29 Apr 2015
I wanted to give this a zero but maybe if you nostalgic for Roger Moore you might like this incoherent piece of garbage. To this day I'm not sure what this movie is about. A north korean officer fakes his death to become a british man who finds diamonds in iceland that A: no else found before & B: are chemically identical to african (like africa is one big nation) conflict diamonds.
Nevermind how bond is the only person who can figure this out, because mi6 has miranda frost undercover with this gustof graves, who did not exist prior to bonds imprisonment, and she fails to reach the same conclusion about the diamonds that bond did; foreshadowing her as the obvious traitor.
But, I've gotten ahead of myself. Bond needs to find Zao first as Zao is they only lead into who framed bond to get him in prison in the first place. So he flies to cuba where zao is getting gene therapy and Jinx, who is NSA yet murdered the gene therapy doctor in pursuit of zao? I'm not sure what Jinx' role in all this is.
So graves uses his conflict diamonds to fund and build Icarus a space laser that will make north korea the world super power and bond and jinx have to stop it and him. If this review seems muddled it's because so is the film.
Then there's all the bullshit bond survives in this film, what is he the highlander? the previous two bond films were so much better than this, and this one is so bad they rebooted the franchise afterwards.
