Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker were just not convincing as a married couple. I know they're supposed to be having marital difficulties, but I didn't believe that they ever were able to talk to one another.
Hugh Grant's bumbling Englishman and S.J. Parker's snooty New Yorker end up in a tiny town out West in witness protection. Of course, everyone in the fictional Wyoming town where they end up play the stereotypical county folks with tough exteriors, but hearts of gold.
The bad guys find them; the good guys win. Silly, predictable movie.
