When it comes to fact who can you trust? The news surely isnt to be trusted says Romero, and ill agree with him there. This seems to be one of the many issues Romero addresses with Diary Of the Dead, Once again using the Zombie film to address his political staments.

Diary of The Dead didnt exactly have me sold in the first 30 minutes or so. In fact I was getting worried it would be a peice of shit! When we first meet the group of young filmmakers, I found them to be pretty annoying. The dialogue was forced and the acting was something to be desired. But once the film really started moving I was hooked. It becomes a really fun road trip film. Something Romero never explored in his previous zombie films. I always wanted to see what was going on outside. Which by the way you would think of a film with the title Land of The Dead you would of had that! This film is in ways better than Land and in other ways Land is better. Diary never matches the uber coolness of his original trilogy, Night, Dawn and Day. But it does start what could be a very entertaining film series.

Now about that shakey cam shit....Its present but, Romero doesnt cop out to the sloppy style of Cloverfeild. His camera is more theatrical and fluid. The film is compiled of hand held footage, security camera footage, you tube and myspace footage and news footage. Creating a very entertaining "first person" quality that moves nicly and gives us a 'scene edited' film. its never blury and theres always a focal point. THANK GOD!

Its a shame that Cloverfield came out first because this film is only gonna be seen as some sort of rip off. Even though this was made way before Cloverfield ever was.

Romero is the man and thank god he's still kicking to give us entertaining horror. Now lets hope he does away with the teens and their annoying dialogue in the next film and gives us some people we truly care about!

After a couple more viewings I find Diary Of The Dead to be not as good as I first thought. The real problem with the film is the actors. They are real fucking annoying! So annoying that I got to drop my original rating. After 45 minutes the whole "i got to shoot this for the world to see" bullshit gets way too played out. The film is still mildly entertaining but I hasnt aged well...were I feel Land of the Dead has. In fact this makes Land look like a masterpiece! Good for one viewing but thats about it!
