Review of Diary of the Dead (2007) by Lanky Man P — 13 Apr 2011
In Diary of the Dead or, as I like to call it, the Blair Zombie Project, Romero tries to combine his favored zombie films with the documentory-style horror flicks popular of late. The idea has some promise, but the result is bogged down by the weaknesses of both subgenres - such as the usual "why would they be filming this"-problem.
There be underlying social commentary, as usual, but nowhere near as subtle and profound as Romero usually makes it. Ok zombie movie, but nothing special.
