Review of Diary of the Dead (2007) by Alberto C — 24 Apr 2011
Romero ressurects the living dead...yet again. Imagine BLAIR WITCH meets NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. Romero has always used his zombies to comment on society. Though he revistied his zombie-verse with THE LAND OF THE DEAD a few years back, that was a big-budget film with name actors produced by a major studio.
It was fun, but not as creative as this film is. Romero mixes up post-911 anxiety with the Youtube generation in which everyone with a video camera is recording and capturing the story while its going on.
Very well done, scarier than CLOVERFIELD.
