Review of Diary of the Dead (2007) by Jeffrey G — 15 Jul 2011
George A. Romero may not be at his finest here, but this is still a great zombie film. Some of the acting is pretty bad, but thankfully, almost every single terrible actor gets killed off early on. No, there aren't all that many scares here, but Romero still has his trademarked wit and social commentary.
I also really admired the B-movie and low budget feel of the film, and the cinematography was fantastic, as was the acting required to support such long and complicated shots. No, this wasn't Romero's best, but it's still a skillful and welcome addition to the genre that he basically created.
