Review of Diary of the Dead (2007) by Geoffrey T — 11 Apr 2012
First off, this film really works as horror. It is intense and effective. And that is the prime reason that I gave this film a favorable review. However, it gets lost in preachy narration. The message of the movie is absurd.
It preaches that humans have an unhealtyh fascination with violence while it glorifies the violence between the humans and undead. It jumps from simplistic themes to other pale, contradictory ideas. I don't say this very often, but this would be a much better movie if it didn't have prevalent themes.
It shoves it's simple views down your throat, and is unaware that it is the epitome of what it claims to despise. Watch it for it's entertaining story and ignore the message.
