Review of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (2012) by Justin K — 06 Aug 2012
A great kids movie for the whole family. It was good to see that Steve Zhan had a bigger role in this one because of the father/son story arc they were doing with this movie and not only do you get a better connection with Greg's father but you get to know him more that the earlier films and that was great for both the character and the actor since I've rarely seen Steve Zhan in anything recently.
It was cool to see them continue the relationship between the brothers and see that they still like being brothers but also have that bit of sibling rivalry.
The story was good and the characters get better and better with every movie and it is fun to see Greg and his friends grow up. And it appears that Greg's voice has changed since the last film. It's deeper and he has grown much taller than the last two. It seems both the actor and the character are at about that age during middle school when a boy changes to a man. And eventually graduates to the 8th grade.
An overall enjoyable movie. Still made for kids, but done with slightly grown up humor.
