Review of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (2012) by Adrian O — 22 Aug 2012
In many cases I would agree with the top critics, but when pertaining to this film I can't bring myself to do it. The first two films in the trilogy showcased an unfortunate kid struggle through unfortunates events while attempting to climb the social pyramid in middle school.
In the end, he figures out how to cope with his insecurities and appreciate the things he already has. For the third installment of the trilogy, the script contains little mishaps (most occuring at the beginning, with the exception of one or two), and fails to point out the character's "wimpiness".
I admire the heartfelt message the film illustrates about the importance of family, but that should not be the goal of this film. It should stay true to itself, and true to it's premise. When it comes to "awww" family moments, they should stay with family sitcoms or movies.
