While I have not seen this third installment, I've seen the first and second and I've read the Wikipedia synopsis of this one. The thing they're ruining is that Greg is some nobody who only gets negative attention, and what's good about the books is that it's really easy to realize that Greg's life sucks.
The movies have supplied us with happy endings now, though, and that makes me mad. The second one ended with Holly suddenly wanting to talk to Greg. How? He's not supposed to be anyone!! And third one, if I can remember, Greg and Holly begin developing a relationship.
... WHAT?!?!?! Why can't Greg be the bad-luck loser that he is in the books?
