Review of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010) by Mike C — 29 Oct 2011

I like to read other reviews. The best synopsis: the problem with wimpy kid is that the wimpy kid is a jerk. Here I thought I'd like this kid, but he really is a jerk. But some pretty decent other characters.

Why did I even watch this? I watch a lot of crap and this was bigger than I thought it should have been. Finally got far enough down on my list that this showed up in the mail. Pretty lame at times, pretty funny at times. Mostly, the red head kid is a funny little bastard. The baby brother is a cute little bastard. The chubby kid is a likeable little bastard. And Chloe Moretz...well I liked her a lot in 500 Days of Summer. Then she was good in Kick-Ass. I'm not sure she's the same age as the other kids in this. If she is, she confirms my suspicions: she is head and shoulders (literally and figuratively) ahead of most teens. Though what's the rush, really?

All in all, cute movie with plenty of lame stuff you've already seen before, but it's comical enough. Definitely better than lots of other kiddy crap floating around out there.
