It is unusual that the lead character is so dislikable, which is what turned me off to this movie. It is a little truer to life than most movies of this kind. There are no good guys and bad guys here, just trying to fit in and finding your place in the awkward years of junior high.
There are not many laughs or memorable positives to make me recommend it. The cast seems decent, but I was left wanting more from the characters and the story. The movie just doesn't merit the buzz it had that made it a surprise summer success.
