Personally, I am not a fan of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series. This is mainly because the main character, Greg Heffley, is seriously disturbed. I also disliked the first two books in the series because they are stupid.

What this film does is take all the parts of the book that I actually like and butcher them, while focusing mainly on the parts of the book I disliked. Okay, first I'll say the things I like about the film.

First, I enjoyed the fight between Greg and Rowley. It was funny and well filmed. Next, I enjoyed the parts where they actually had the drawings from the book. Now for the things I don't like. First, the new character.

I just found her to be completely unnecessary for the film. Other than that, I guess the problem with the film is less about the film, and more about the dumb source material. The source material is just so stupid, that I feel it would be impossible to make a decent film out of this book.

This book was simply not something that would translate well as a film. And, there are things they do well in this film, I admit, but this film is often more annoying then it is funny. More often, I wanted to just turn the film off rather then continue to watch it.

Although, I guess the target audience would be people who actually liked the book series, rather then me, who didn't. I really would not recommend this film unless you enjoyed the book series and are less then 13 years old.

There really is nothing in this film for anyone who has already hit puberty. 2/5 stars.
