I really enjoy the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid. They bring good humor, great characters and good setups that made me laugh. When the film came out, it wasn't bad, it was just lacking the greatness the book had.
The changes form the book were pointless and make this more lame than it should be, some of the humor were week and didn't made me laugh like in the book. But at least I find the young act was some what enjoyable and makes some of the stuff I enjoy about the books very balance without make it too childish.
Other wise, I was very disappointed with this adaptation. I could see more from this. I wish I could.
