Review of Diary of a Mad Black Woman (2005) by J K — 07 May 2010
Does anyone ever pay attention to the background characters when Madea appears? If you were to take Madea out of Tyler Perry's movies no one would watch them. Seriously. That character is the most brilliant thing about these films.
Perry tries very hard to install characters that everyone cares about and his themes of love, family and God are always good. But his Madea character steals the show every time. I want to see how Perry does directing a movie without using Madea.
I think he could pull it off.
