Review of Diamonds Are Forever (1971) by Gord T — 22 Apr 2009
The lines are quite funny, and I don't know if Connery intentionally played it straight but it plays well either way. Jill St. John is initially an interesting Bond girl, but for some reason she gets stupider as the movie progresses.
John Barry and Shirley Bassey deliver once again. The last third is a major disappointment as is the presence of (prissy) Blofeld (with hair) in the plot. But Wint and Kidd are delightful. Good stunts until the end.
Too bad so much money was spent on Connery's salary instead of the special effects (which were better in Bond films both before and after this one).
