Review of Diamonds Are Forever (1971) by Steve B — 31 Dec 2010
Another flawed, dated and least favourite 007 storyline of mine. Bond gets involved in finding out who is the top man behind a diamond smuggling heist. In regards to the enemies, Blofeld wasn't cast well and looks to friendly than threatening or for someone wanting hold the world at ransom.
I'm not sure why the writers thought that Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd were a good idea or even entertainment value. The Las Vegas car chase was good, and Bond's taking to Willard Whyte's roof a little nail-biting.
The elevator fight was good and this kind of fight scene is what's missing in some Bond movies, long, gritty, realistic and tense. There was another good one in 'Goldeneye' with 009, the simple one punch knockout doesn't cut it.
A few tongue in cheek moments, only to be expected also.
