Review of Diamonds Are Forever (1971) by Alexia F — 18 Apr 2013
"Diamonds Are Forever", the latest installment of Connery as Bond is a solid entry to the franchise, just to give what to give without satisfy more than expected. The story is indifferently written and narrated by the standards of Ian Fleming's novels, I mean better, the plot is not well constructed and leaves several loose ends in terms of consistency and plot holes.
The movie acting is pretty well. It have good villains, although the central villain (Blofeld) in a average way, allowed two best characters overshadow by him: his assistants (Whyte and Wint). Connery didn't still characterizes Bond as well as before but it's something, with good performances from his girl, St.
John as Miss Case. But the car chases scenes, despite their good maneuvers and stunts, are boring, slow and fall throughout all cliche possible at that time. So, "Diamonds Are Forever", the film that marks the end of the era of Connery as Bond is a so-so lackuster entry, the acting is great, but in itself does not take advantage of one more complex way the source material, anyway, great actor, great adventures, great romances, great Bond.
