Review of Diamonds Are Forever (1971) by Colin F — 18 Jul 2012
Despite a welcome return for Sean Connery and Jill St John being one of the better Bond Girls this definitely has the poorest script of all the Bond films, it really is diabolical for a film that probably cost so much money at the time.
I do like Charles Gray as Blofield and the Car Chase around Las Vegas is brilliant but it does not save the movie from having so many plot holes. Mr Kidd and Mr Winter are just the worse villains in the entire franchise, they are supposed to kill bond, but instead of just shooting him, they put Bond into obvious situations where he can escape.
Sean Connery coming back probably saves this film as it takes the focus of it being so bad. A very wasted opportunity this time, a descent script it could of been so much better.
