Review of Dial M for Murder (1981) by John E — 04 Jul 2010
I very much enjoyed this most cerebral and minimalist of Hitchcock's films. Although he loathed exposition and dialogue, this movie is full of it, but thanks to the fantastic performances and the camera's exploration of the apartment space, the film is not once boring and manages to be completely engrossing.
The brilliance of the plan and the thoroughness of the performances keeps the film intriguing as the audience keeps up with the tortuous plot(s). It once again proves Hitchcock's brilliance and great power as an entertainer and film craftsman.
