Review of Dial M for Murder (1954) by Adrian B — 20 Mar 2010
Good murder-drama. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, so not a surprise. Very clever, yet water-tight, plot. Hitchcock's direction is spot-on, as always. Builds the tension, and doesn't let the movie drift.
Only negative is the acting of Ray Milland. His stiff-up-lipness is excrutiatingly irritating. Was Cary Grant not available? I got the feeling Hitchcock wanted Cary Grant, couldn't get him, so got a c-grade lookalike instead.
