Review of Dial M for Murder (1954) by Yves C — 23 Nov 2008
More blond than Grace Kelly, you die ... and even she did.
Anyway: a plot that doesn't stand close scrutiny, montage that is sloppy at times, experiments with Technicolor which seem outdated now (and interesting because of that), an entire movie in almost 1 room, hardly any action, except for 1 murder scene, ... but a movie which after 50 years still works so well that it overcomes & nullifies the scepsis and arrogance of 15 year-olds.
My daughters started watching with the reluctance that so characterizes their age. Boy were they hooked by the end! Glued to the screen. Perfectly prepped by the hand of the master to see 1,5 hour of suspense culminating in the cream of British cool.
