Review of Dial M for Murder (1954) by Min K — 14 Oct 2011
Strong adaptation of a play, mixed in with your classic Hitchcock flair. Knott's screenplay does a good job of guiding us through the suspense of the plot as well as winding us out of it so all is explained in the end.
Ray Milland and John Williams were particularly notable for their playful portrayals of criminal and inspector. The music in the first third of the movie felt like it interrupted the film, but served the story well in for the rest of it.
Interesting to see how Hitchcock handles a script that takes place in one room - as always, very well-crafted camera angles and footage.
