Review of Dial M for Murder (1954) by Matthew D — 12 Feb 2016
What it lacks in suspense, something you come to expect from Hitchcock, it more than makes up for with a fantastically written story that pays great attention to detail, perfectly showing all the things that can go wrong with what seems like a well-thought out and easy to execute murder-plan.
The dialogue is cleverly written, letting us in on just what the characters are thinking, but the thing that's really captivating is Ray Milliband's performance -- he plays the affectionate husband/smug scoundrel combo to absolute perfection and you're just dying for him to get caught out by someone.
