Review of Diagnosis: Death (2010) by William T — 01 Feb 2010
The "Tongan Ninja" crew doing an homage to Asian horror instead of fu, with comedians Raybon Kan, cameos by the Conchords, and Rhys Darby. Their comedy is mainly bookended, and may have come in late to the script; even central protagonist Kan just cracks wise a little.
The cancer ward setting doesn't help the comedy, and the horror elements were tired a decade ago even for fans of mainstream horror. Good talent involved, but none are well served by this awkward mix of a grim subject for humor and tired J-horror cliches.
