Review of Devil's Playground (2010) by Trent R — 13 Oct 2010
Zombie parkour isn't really an original idea - just an extension of Left 4 Dead and the video game film Zombieland, the Dawn remake, 28 Weeks/Days, Lenzi's Nightmare City, etc. If it were done well here, with some sense of suspense, pace or dread, it could be interesting.
However, there is nothing of the kind, just infected free runners doing repetitive bounding crawls, leaps, drops, and wall jumps with no interesting choreography. So, it is not so much that traditional sources of tension are abandoned, as there is nothing to replace them in garnering either a horrific or action effect.
