Review of Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) by Konrad A — 23 Jul 2007
One of those unnoticed movies I really liked. Mainly it was the first I'd seen Don Cheadle and his character was so inventive, loopy and real at the same time. As another reviewer said, he steals the show.
Tom Sizemore is also great as the villain. It was also good to see noir reinvented from the perspective of the people traditionally put in the background by all the old noir movies. Easy Rawlins is not a terribly memorable leading character though Denzel vigorously plows through and almost hides this fact.
Jennifer Beals is kind of stiff, which makes the plotline around which everything else revolves more symbolic than moving.
