Review of Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) by Richard S — 25 Dec 2007
Film Noir given a twist by being set on the other side of the racial divide in post WWII LA. Washington is his usual likable self as the slightly naive Easy Rawlins that gets in way over his head, and Don Cheadle is flat-out brilliant as his murderous friend Mouse.
It's tautly directed, with superb period details, it's only slightly let down by the fact you never really care that much about the convoluted plot.
