Review of Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) by Steve M — 24 Jul 2007
A good hardboiled detective story in the tradition of Chandler and Hammett with Denzel Washington playing a man whose need for money and whose decision to ignore his better instincts lead him to being caught up in a complex spiderweb of murder and blackmail.
Good solid story, but Washington is very good as Easy Rawlins, and Don Cheadle is truly great as his hometown friend, Mouse, who is effectively a completely unbalanced psychopath.
