Review of Devil (2010) by Dov D — 30 Oct 2013

Drew Dowdle and John Erick Dowdle's Devil is probably my favorite M Night Shyamalan story put to film, which admittedly doesn't mean much, but still... This low budget bottle-esque horror flick explores the relationships between seemingly unrelated individuals who find themselves trapped in an elevator.

I absolutely love the horror aspects of this film and the elevator scenes, but as a whole, the script is poor and the acting leaves something to be desired. The overly religious character is ridiculously overplayed and by far the worst part of this film.

The climax is excellent in terms of horror, but sloppy as a meaningful redemptive tale. Bottom line, this is a pretty good little horror film that most genre fans should enjoy, just don't expect ti to blow you away.

.. Also, all M Night fans will love his signature twist in this one.
