31 of 31 #20 DEVIL....man...this movie.....this is what put the final nail on anything with the words Shamalan.

The premise is fantastic - 5 people stuck in an elevator, the lights go out and one of the 5 is suddenly dead...who did it ?? and will it happen again.....totally brilliant.

Except that we already know who the main bad guy is...THE DEVIL !!!

Do I need to say anything else......the villian is revealed in the title of the movie or the many ads that were flat out saying one of these people is the devil..../facepalm.

Of course, this movie having a hispanic character made me happy UNTIL he saw the face of the devil on the video feed of the elevator....which I guess its fine for setting up the already obvious...but just wait.

Does anyone remember him saying that the way to know if the devil is near is to put jelly on toast and throw the bread up and if the bread falls jelly side down...that means the devil is around....yes.....I will let that settle in because I honestly needed to see a shrink to get over the sheer stupidity of that scene.

The final payoff is totally pointless and it feels like it was just added for the sheer value of shock but still it doesn't add much to an already terrible story.

And in typical Shamalan movie....there is a twist on the story.....the WHOLLLEEE thing is a story about forgiveness which absolutely sucks and just helps to I guess add a happy positive ending to this turd.

Avoid avoid avoid.
