Review of Devdas (2002) by Brenda Z — 13 Jan 2008
I watched this movie in French, neither English nor Spanish subtitles, but its music was in Hindi of course.
An awesome movie! However, oh gosh I felt in love and I cried a lot. It's ironic on how sometimes true love is stronger than time and distance but weaker than barriers. At the end , Devdas dies and Parvati is sad but married to a widow and bitter old man who treats her as a prisioner.
It's ironic how sometimes society condems and judge courtesans (''prostitutes'') like Chandramukhi but they don't even think that prostitutes also have a heart, as she had for Devdas, who only loved his childhood sweetheart, Parvati.
This movie is the most expensive movies of Bollywood, but it's worth of it. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT! IT'S ONE OF MY FAVORITE ONES.
