Review of Devdas (2002) by Anee W — 08 Sep 2009
I'm torn on this movie. I wanted to like it. It had an interesting story, which I had never heard of before. The script offered thought-provoking lines concerning issues ranging from prostitution to family and class.
There was even a song devoted to drinking. And the musical numbers were very good. That being said, the incidental background music was awful, like something you'd hear in a role playing game. THAT being said, the cinematography was perfect.
HOWEVER, I'm unsure whether the acting was just bad acting or over-acting. I like Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai a lot but not in this I'm afraid.
