Review of Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999) by Brendan N — 05 Jan 2013
Quite funny and harmless comedy that knows exactly what audience it plays too. The lead is likeable and the supporting bunch of weirdos give it added humour.
The director clearly felt the need to turn the film into one dirty toilet joke which it didn't need. The film runs very smoothly while the jokes come at a natural pace but then the jokes become terribly forced.
The cast works well together and it's only the need for cheap jokes at the actors expense that hurts the film.
I thought the film was good but far from great. It is what it is a lot like most Adam sandler comedies. The strength of the film is the underdog story and the idea of women needing more attention then quick tricks.
I liked the film more then I thought and have watched it many times since.
