Review of Detropia (2012) by Kwabena A — 17 Sep 2012
Clever storytelling by using Detroits cityscape, history and characters to tell its story OWN story. Movie doesnt seek lead the viewer to any concrete conclusions. The narrative is loose and unscripted.
The feel is gritty and realistic--as most Detroiters live. The sights sounds and pulse tell the story. As a Detroiter who grew up in and around the neighborhoods where most of the film was shot. I was impressed and appreciative.
