Review of Detroit Metal City (2008) by Stephen K — 09 Sep 2008

I would say not many people will think much of this film, but that's kind of moot since it was destined to be cult by it's tone and subject. Even so it really doesn't try all that hard to be exceptionally clever, just goofy and bizarre.

Unike Spinal Tap, Tenacious D and Rocky Horror, DMC rarely attempts to make any catchy songs or delve into the music genre's it's spoofing past surface value.

Lots of people will praise this film simply because it's weird and Japanese. While the movie can be a lot of fun, it's really not saying or doing all that much of any importance.
