Review of Detroit Metal City (2008) by Jane L — 15 Mar 2009
For all anime/manga fans, DMC fans, Death Metal fans or pple who love all things jap, check this show out!! This show is about this "toot" guy from the countryside who loves music and want to pursue a career in music. Thus, he enrolled into the university of Tokyo to be 1) trendy 2)stay in a trendy apartment 3) be a pop musician. His motto is no music, no life. Or in other words, no music, no dream. Little did he know that 5 years down the road, he is pursuing a music career, but the genre is... death metal. His alter ego on stage is a 'devil' who always sing about rape, killing and everything bad. Definitely not what he wanted!! He wanted to sing about love. Sweet, sweet love. Worse, his love interest hates his alter ego, not knowing the 'devil' and him are one of the same person!!
This show is really a laugh a minute. You'll get to see how this sweet and gentle boy who be able to excel in death metal even though he hates it so much. And how he hide his 'bad' side from his love interest. You'll also get to see how each errors he made on stage, seems to make him cooler than before.
You'll have to be 16 and above to watch this show though. And if you're someone who hates cursing or a goody two shoes, this show is not for you as there are quite alot of vulgar words and vulgar lyrics in this show. Hey, it's death metal. What do you expect?
