Review of Detroit (2017) by Kyle C — 06 Aug 2017
Saw an advanced screening of "Detroit" two days ago and it was horrible. I've been debating commenting and sharing my thoughts because sometimes people misconstrue things as hating vs. the truth, but I'm really not okay with this. Kathryn Bigelow is trying to make money off the Black Struggle.
The movie was wildly unrealistic, emotionless and I seriously questioned what made them tell this story at this particular moment in history. The racism was predictable and the script was so poorly written that I didn't care about the characters.
Happy to see young Actors working, but What bothers me most is that the way it was done, it made everyone in the film look like caricatures and I became offended. I saw it for free and I wanted my time back. Please don't let Hollywood think it's okay to make stories like this again. It's a mockery.
Firestick or redbox. But no box office y'all. Take it easy.
