Review of Detroit (2017) by Willa T — 07 Aug 2017
The audience, mostly white, was emotionally drained by the end of the movie. As the only woman and person of color in this theater, it made my heart proud to know that a small percentage of whites understand the injustices experienced by Black Americans.
The movie began with comparisons to current events. Isn't that the real shame? 1967 versus 2017...and the underbelly of racism is still prevalent. It is going to take that small percentage who is affected for change to occur.
THIS is a great movie with great young actors.
