Review of Detroit (2017) by John M — 31 Aug 2018
Bigelow commits to her usual tactics here (spontaneous handheld cinematography and unflinching realism) and I think it serves its heavy and lengthy story well. Because of the multitude of characters and details, your sense of connecting to any sort of character as an actual person gets a little muddled, but regardless, it's an important, insightful and depressingly terrifying film and portrayal of these events.
