Review of Detention (2012) by Schmoog L — 26 Jul 2012
Sometimes, Joseph Kahn tried way too hard, portrayed high school as if it were on drugs, its writing sometimes felt like it borrowed a little too much from others (Diablo Cody, Edgar Wright). Yet, I really enjoyed its meta-ness, pop-culture references (and there are A LOT of them), its energetic and well-chosen cast and just the insane, unpredictable, original turns it took and never caring how sense they made.
