Review of Detective Story (1951) by Adam S — 09 May 2010
I didn't know anything about this before I saw it, so I was expecting it to be a murder mystery type story, instead it ended up being a film that takes place entirely in a police station. It's a nice adaptation of a play directed by the great William Wyler and starring Kirk Douglas.
It takes its time to get into the real drama, and even though it's a bit over the top when the big secret is revealed, it's still a good movie. Lee Grant is very entertaining as a shoplifter who waits in the station.
With no score and only one location, it's well directed and edited with a good cast.
