Review of Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame (2010) by Susan S — 30 Sep 2010
This is certainly a return of Hark Tsui's awesome skills in making of ancient kung fu movies. Most of the scenes are plotted in great details, complimented with very thorough computer graphical effects.
This movies is quite a show-case to the Hollywood that HK/China movie can also meet up with their effects. Both Carina Lau and Li Ping-ping performed excellent acting. I really love the scene when Szeto died in the arms of Empress Wu.
Carina really led us to her emotions in deep sorrow and then shortly to her ambitious and determination. A must-see movie in 2010.
