Review of Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame (2010) by Sarah K — 09 Oct 2010
It's been a while since I have seen Carina Lau on the big screen and when she made a comeback...she made it big by playing the famous Empress Wu! Although not a fan of Andy Lau, his protrayal of Detective Dee reminds me of Sherlock Holmes with his ruggedness and curiousity.
The role of Li Bingbing reminds of Brigitte Lin in her hey-days back in the 90s. This story is a mixture of everything, kungfu, suspense, mystery, romance and even some parts of comedy, and will definitely appeal to anyone because it is entertaining.
Jus don't come expecting too much of each genre in it...
