Tsui Hark ei näköjään olekaan ihan kokonaan kadottanut taitojaan. Komealta näyttävä wuxia-satu tuo mieleen ohjaajan vanhat klassikot. Efektimaailmakin pysyy onneksi suhteellisen hallinnassa eikä häiritse niin paljon kuin pelkäsin.
Hyvät starat on saatu kehiin, Sammo johtaa kameran takana actionia ja Li BingBing on aivan kuin nuori Brigitte Lin.
