Review of Detachment (2011) by Zebada M — 25 Jun 2012
RT synopsis says it doesn't offer any solutions. And why must it? Can the vicious cycle of dysfunction in our education system and our society be solved in a two hour cut of film stock? The movie is well-acted, artistically-presented, poetic, metaphorical and beautiful in its content.
Adrien Brody delivers the lead role like only he can. It is about angst, loneliness, frustration and it is anything but detached. No, it doesn't offer solutions, but it does grip you on the element of pain and how we ubiquitously assimilate it.
